Somewhere in the mix of adages “hard work pays off” and “patience is a virtue” stands receiver Kaleb Webb. In late June, the 2022 recruit verbally committed to East Carolina. Since making his pledge to the Pirates, his recruiting stock has skyrocket taking in offers from Western Kentucky, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Tennessee… and it looks like the offers will continue to roll in.

Within the construct of McEachern’s offense, Webb had two seniors being highlighted ahead of him in a passing attack that tallied 1,399 yards a year ago. Coming off a 17-reception 181-yard campaign, in two games this season the 6-4, 195-pound, target has already secured 12 passes for 182 yards with three trips into the end zone.

The offer frenzy on Webb began this summer after attending camps at Mercer, Kennesaw State, Georgia, and Wake Forest, and those offerees are now looking like geniuses. But Webb was drawn to the Pirates based on the plans laid out for him sharing, “They want me to be a big part of the offense and I have a chance to contribute as a freshman. Seeing the bond among the players, it really feels like a brotherhood there. They will take me in and I can thrive in their program.”

The influx of offers has caught Webb’s attention, “It definitely opened my eyes. I want to hear from other colleges, what they have in mind for me at their school. I am pretty locked in with ECU; a college would have to try really hard to get me to flip.”

Other schools could pull the trigger on the Powder Springs, Ga., product soon, “LSU is showing interest and I have been talking to Michigan a lot.”

Webb took an official to ECU at the end of June. This fall, the Kentucky Wildcats may host Webb on an official.
